Kristen Strezo and Robert Filippo have been making music together since they became friends in high school, playing in several bands predecesing STREZO. They were best known as the duo behind the confrontational Chicago math-rock punk band HEDONISTS,MAYBE. In 2006, they began their side project, DISPLACED GHOST LODGER. Both are from Chicago and have recently relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. Ms. Strezo and Mr. Filippo have been linked to activism regarding environmental and social causes, performing frequently for various fundraiser bills.
As of Fall, 2007 they founded STREZO SOUND MINE which provides original music and sound design for independent theatre producers and filmmakers. Visit www.myspace.com/strezoproductions for more info.
Kristen Strezo Lead singer of Strezo.
In interviews she considers herself to be particular and an 'easygoing recluse', the outspoken lead singer has been deemed otherwise. Because of her behavior during performances, she has gained a reputation for being unpredictable onstage, carrying her activist spirit onstage with her. This has included past scenes such as conductring a mock wedding during a set, shaving her armpits and dancing on tabletops wearing a prom dress covered in bloody coat hangers. Occasionally, she has worn see-through nightgowns with provocative phrases on it with duct tape covering certain parts of her body.
Although serious in their stances, Ms. Strezo and Mr. Filippo don't forget their senses of humor. She and Robert have dressed up in garbage bags with Robert's garbage bag saying 'Oppressor' and hers saying 'Size 2'. In addition, she has also been known to dress as a politician, complete with fake moustache, shaking every member of the audience's hand.
As well as performing full-time with Strezo, Ms. Strezo is an award winning writer.
